Film & Television - Development and Production
With 25 years of experience as an entertainment attorney and producer, my law practice encompasses every stage of live-action and animated production—from options and rights acquisition through the final day of post-production and delivery. I represent talent and the production side, depending on the deal, which gives me a balanced strategic perspective. I have served as counsel for over thirty-five feature films and television series worldwide, including the feature film Wonderwell, which we shot in Rome and Tuscany with Carrie Fisher; the Netflix anime series Trese; and ARK: The Animated Series for Paramount+. I also teach the subject in law school and have been an attorney contributor to LexisNexis for the last two years, where I draft film and television industry contracts and reference materials relied upon by top-tier law firms nationwide.

I represent actors, writers, showrunners, designers, casting directors, production companies, and financiers, and I know how to balance creative demands with the business realities of completing a production on schedule and under budget. I am always looking for new film and television projects. If you are developing a film or television project and need counsel, send me an email and let's set up a no-charge consultation and figure out how I can help you.

Film & Television - Finance and Distribution
On the finance and distribution side, my practice centers on structuring deals that secure funding, protect rights, and set projects up for commercial success. I draft and negotiate equity financing agreements, tailored private placement memoranda (PPMs), sales agency agreements, and domestic and international distribution contracts.
I bring a unique perspective to distribution deals, having represented both filmmakers and distributors. For over a decade, I served as counsel to international sales agent Eleven Arts, attending Cannes and negotiating worldwide distribution and licensing agreements on behalf of the distributor. Coupled with years of dealmaking for filmmakers, this dual-sided experience means I know the nuances and pitfalls of international distribution, and how to balance strong legal protection with the commercial realities of the global marketplace. My role is to anticipate risks, safeguard ownership, and maximize value while ensuring deals remain viable for investors, producers, and creatives. To explore financing options or map out a distribution strategy, contact me to discuss how I can help advance your project.

Music Law
I understand musicians because I am a musician. Before law school, I was one of the best rudimental drummers in the country. I marched in and then taught award-winning drum lines, such as the Santa Clara Vanguard, where I won three percussion titles and a DCI World Championship, as well as personal endorsements with Zildjian and Pearl Drums. For more than a decade, I served as Executive Producer and President of the San Francisco Renegades, leading the ensemble to international recognition and developing a deep understanding of how artistry, performance, and business come together.
My work in music encompasses drafting and negotiating recording, publishing, touring, and licensing agreements. I represent talent and the corporate side, depending on the deal, protecting creative rights while ensuring sound business structures. From ownership of your masters and compositions to revenue splits on streaming, sync, and live performance, my clients rely on me for contracts that safeguard their careers. I extend discounted rates to drum corps and marching bands, and have represented such organizations as the Concord Blue Devils, the Canton Bluecoats, Carolina Crown, the Cadets, Drum Corps Associates, and drum corps luminries such as Scott Johnson, Wayne Downey, and Key Poulan.

Social Media & Influencers
From TikTok and Instagram to YouTube and new platforms, I turn content into contracts by negotiating brand deals, management agreements, and influencer contracts that protect digital rights and maximize revenue. I create clear, balanced, and profitable agreements that enable influencers to grow their audience, expand their income through content monetization, and avoid costly disputes with brands, agencies, or platforms. Whether you’re dealing with your first collaboration or a multi-platform brand with global reach, I provide the foundation that keeps your content safe and your career on the move. If you are a creator looking to protect your work and maximize the cash, contact me to discuss your next steps.

Technology
My legal career began in 2000 in Silicon Valley, working for the tech start-up Vividence, under the supervision of technology law legend and Stanford professor Diane Savage. It was a master class in transactional law, where the technology often moved faster than the contracts. The Vividece experience shaped my ability to draft agreements that not only keep pace with innovation but also anticipate risks before they surface. I fine-tuned my skill-set as contract technology counsel for DreamWorks Animation SKG, negotiating high-value technology contracts at the intersection of creativity, business, and digital platforms.

Today, my practice supports startups, entrepreneurs, and established companies in various areas, including software development, app development, SaaS agreements, intellectual property licensing, and cross-border commercial partnerships. I have substantial experience working with and advising on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. My work covers machine learning contracts, AI compliance, data privacy, and intellectual property protections in the AI space. Clients rely on me to navigate the legal frameworks that govern rapidly evolving technologies while ensuring their IP, data, and business models remain secure. If you are developing technology or negotiating critical agreements, contact me to discuss how I can help protect and fully monetize your IP.

Corporate and Commercial Transactions
I advise businesses across industries on structuring and closing transactions designed to create lasting value. My work includes drafting and negotiating partnership agreements, joint ventures, licensing arrangements, and corporate governance structures that safeguard ownership while remaining practical and enforceable. I represent startups, established companies, and international businesses entering the U.S. market, guiding them through cross-border negotiations and financing transactions. My focus is consistent: clear agreements, effective risk management, and results that position companies for growth.

Literary
My practice in literary matters covers book publishing, options, and adaptations for film and television. I represent both authors and companies, negotiating contracts that protect creative rights while making sure deals are structured for long-term success. From book publishing agreements to option/purchase deals for screen adaptations, my clients rely on me to secure clear rights, strong financial terms, and contracts that move projects forward. Literary contracts often involve complex ownership and revenue issues, and unclear language can create problems years down the line. My focus is on protecting the work while maximizing earnings, whether the deal is with a traditional publisher, a streaming platform, or a production company. If you are an author, publisher, or producer negotiating a book deal or option agreement, contact me to discuss how I can protect your rights and secure the best possible terms.
